The Definition of Self Awareness is Clearly Seeing Ourselves

Self-awareness, a crucial aspect of personal development, can be defined as the conscious recognition of our true selves, particularly the facets that lie dormant within our subconscious mind. Achieving complete self-awareness requires an understanding of our subconscious selves, enabling us to bring hidden aspects of our identities into the light of our conscious awareness. Our subconscious significantly influences our lives, often in ways we fail to comprehend.

Everyone has 2 Self’s; One Defines Self Awareness

1. Conscious Self: The Rational Observer

The conscious self, often referred to as our logical or rational self, is the lens through which we engage with the world day by day.  We act, think, react, and evaluate activities and information daily based upon the factors within our conscious self. But our conscious self is programed and sourced from the outside. All data, information, values, judgements, rewards expectations, changes, additions, deletions etc. come from external origins. The one person who has no conscious self is a one-day old baby. We haven’t had the time to impose outside information on a one-day old baby. But babies soak up as much outside information as they can in the process of developing their conscious self and sometimes unknowingly parts of the subconscious selves they were not born with.

2. Subconscious Self: The Source of Self Awareness

In contrast, the subconscious self serves as the core of our identity. It houses the driving forces that guide, restrict, nurture, and expose us to various life experiences. This aspect of our psyche often expresses itself through gut feelings or intuition, especially in critical situations, yet remains enigmatic and underexplored. Unfortunately, many individuals overlook these instinctual insights, allowing their conscious selves to dominate decision-making.

Exploring the Five Core Ingredients of the Subconscious Self‘s

Understanding our subconscious self involves recognizing five essential components, often deemed the “Greatest Mystery in the World.”

These 5 Core Ingredients are the mainstay of our Subconscious Self. The hidden unknown 5 Ingredients of our own Subconscious Self are frequently called the “Greatest Mystery in The World” which is Ourselves. Discovering and Knowing these 5 Core Ingredients is the path to attain clear Self Awareness.

Passions. Everyone has many different passions within. These are the activities or ideas we have a strong internal desire to perform. Some adjust with growing up and changes in life conditions. But many passions remain hidden. Unfortunately, too many people do not know or understand their hidden passions leading to missed opportunities for fulfillment.

Self Imposed Obstacles. These are the unexplained barriers, mostly buried within us, we do not want to do. No reason given. As opposed to limiting beliefs, which are restricted perspectives that misguide our actions. For example, in ancient times it was believed that the earth was flat, limiting their urge to travel outside their regions.

Unfortunately, most people have many self imposed obstacles they do not know exist. We know some like the foods, music and books we dislike. But, not always. Performing or even facing the prospect of having to perform unknown self imposed obstacles is a major cause of stress and hinders our growth.

Beliefs and Values. Often linked to spirituality rather than religion, our beliefs comprise our boundaries and integrity points. Awareness of these boundaries empowers us to protect ourselves against potential harm from others. Our integrity points define our character. Our character improves and strengthens as we discover more about our personal integrity points. When we are unsure of our integrity points our character becomes inconsistent.

Talents. Each person is a unique assemblage of talents, a present from God at birth, without sharing a list. Unfortunately, many talents go undiscovered and underappreciated, waiting for individuals to unveil their hidden treasures.

Priorities. This includes our personal comparative rating scale of actions, goals, and values, without outside influence. Knowing our priorities generates authentic decision-making and virtually eliminates frustrations and confusion caused by external forces.

Attaining Self Awareness Solves one of the Greatest Mysteries in The World.

Achieving self-awareness thus addresses a significant aspect of human existence—the quest to understand ourselves better. And increases of positive use of our powerful intuition. However, many struggle with self-awareness due to the inherent challenge of introspection. Our outward-facing perspective prevents us from fully grasping our inner selves, leading to distorted self-perceptions shaped by others’ opinions.

Pathways to True Self Awareness

To discover genuine self-awareness, individuals will benefit from using another person to act as your personal mirror to reflect to you what you reveal about yourself. Engaging with a life coach, a method pioneered by Thomas Leonard in the early 1990s, provides the focused process to discover one’s true self. This process enables individuals to explore their subconscious privately and accurately, free from biases, ultimately fostering true self-understanding. Through this lens, self-awareness emerges as not only an intellectual pursuit but a profound journey towards personal enlightenment. And this is the clearest path to transition from feeling stuck to creating their new more enjoyable and fruitful lives.
