The reason you engage a life coach is to achieve your remarkable life and career goals. The mission of your life coach is to make sure you do achieve your “Coachable Goals.” You and your life coach create a partnership dedicated to achieving your “Coachable Goals”
And the “Coachable Goals” you achieve with your Life Coach are almost always remarkable, life changing personal and career goals. These same goals are so incredible, most people feel they are out of reach, because they have been very difficult if not impossible to achieve using other means. In fact the Coachable Goals you achieve though being coached will most likely sound too good to be true. So much so you will probably discount Life Coaching as unrealistic. (Welcome to a large club; me included.)
Life Coaching Appeared Impractical
I thought Life Coaching was too touchy feely, too pie in the sky, and more fantasy than real. But boy was I wrong. I continuously failed to achieve just one very important life goal for 14 years. I wanted to figure out what I wanted to do when I grew up. I tried everything. Nothing worked! I never even got close and was convinced my simple goal was impossible after so many failures.
Out of Desperation I Relented to Find a Life Coach
I finally surrendered to being coached after I had no other choice but to continue my failure exercises. But, it was not as easy as I thought. I went through 27 coaches in 6 months before I accidentally found my ideal Life Coach. Why did I feel he was the right Coach? Because he was the first and only coach to ask me: “Bill what are your Coachable Goals?” Of course I had no clue what a “Coachable Goal” was and told him so.
Once he defined a “Coachable Goal” as: “A future place you want to be that requires you to grow and improve as a person to achieve it;” I became interested, but still did not know if I had one. So I asked for his help to see if I had a “Coachable Goal?” He asked me several questions I do not remember, and after responding for about 30 seconds, he said. “I hear you say you want to discover and get your Ideal Income Position to do what you love and be greatly rewarded for your results.” I jumped at that goal, because it expressed exactly what I had been trying to do on my own for 14 years with no success. Of course, I also challenged him because I had so little faith in this “Life Coaching” thing (After all I had failed to find the right coach after 27 tries) and I had failed to reach this goal after using virtually all of the other 9 human improvement processes over the past 14 years.
Success! I achieved 3 “Coachable Goals”
He said if you are Committed to your “Coachable Goals,” you Seek Responsibility for Your Actions and you Want to Discover and Accept Who You Are, your Goals are easily in reach. Since I emphatically sought and agreed to all three conditions, I said let’s start.
I achieved my incredible “Coachable Goal” and 2 other remarkable “Coachable Goals” I added for good measure in about 7 months. And I Knew exactly what I wanted to achieve for once and better yet I Knew I had achieved them. What a life change! I have been enjoying all 3 of my “Coachable Goals” for the past 24 years. And I KNOW it.
Life Coaching will be Just as Effective for You!
In truth, IF Life Coaching can help me achieve my remarkable goals so easily, so completely and so quickly, then it will help millions of others do the same. I was a real basket case. With an attitude of analytical arrogance. Life Coaching is the relatively NEW, extremely practical, very fundamental human improvement process (Number 10) that works exceptionally well when done right. Life coaching encourages and assists YOU in achieving your goals. Let’s look at the steps of Life Coaching.
Three basic steps to achieve your goals with a life coach
Step One – Attain Clear Self Awareness to become “The World’s Leading Expert on You!”
You engage in the accelerated self-discovery process with your life coach that is unique to life coaching and is so valuable to you. Your Coach reveals YOU to YOU for the first time in your life. unlocks the Greatest Mystery in the World, the Mystery of You! Your coach . Through this self-discovery process, you discover your passions; priorities, values, talents and self imposed obstacles that have been hidden within you to become “The World’s Leading Expert” on You! Now you have the clarity and confidence to create and choose the goals YOU really want to achieve without stress, and avoid goals that are not in your best interest.
Step Two – You discover and define your Coachable Goals” in great detail
You and your life coach together take the newly discovered information about yourself to custom build your “Coachable Goals” to suit You on Your agenda. You create your goals to fulfill your passions and priorities, follow your values, maximize your talents, and avoid as many of your self imposed obstacles as you can. Now you Know exactly what your new life and work destinations really are. You can begin your purposeful life journey to achieve your fully defined goals. This way you cease your aimless wanderings without such clear goals.
Step Three – You actually achieve your newly defined “Coachable Goals”
Your coach will Hold You Accountable to You so you implement, the Conditions of your “Coachable Goals” discovered in Step Two on your terms. You and your life coach work as a highly focused team to discover and change the conditions around you to allow the completion of your goals. That’s right, You and your coach will concentrate on adjusting the conditions to achieve the goals, as opposed to adjusting you to the conform to goals. This is a very powerful, very effective and very different goal achieving process. And upon Completing all of your chosen “Coachable Goals” on your terms, you say Thank you Mr. or Ms. Coach, Have a great day.
For example, if a you want to become an excellent web site development salesperson by actually talking with prospective clients personally, you will find the places where you can meet and engage in focused conversations about web sites under relaxed and enjoyable conditions to you.
And as a further example, if this you also want to avoid dealing with paperwork, you can engage an assistant to handle all contracting and other paperwork matters, or even acquire or create apps that will generate such documents for you.
What are the 3 main reasons people fail at achieving goals?
1. One reason most people fail at achieving goals is that they accept goals imposed upon them by others. They try to achieve goals they frequently do not want to achieve, so they lose interest and find ways either consciously or subconsciously to procrastinate. For example you are an outside sales person, and your boss tells you to learn shorthand, which you despise doing to take notes in sales meetings to be his secretary. You will undoubtedly find many ways NOT to learn shorthand.
2. Another reason most people fail at achieving goals is that the goals are unclear and confusing. For example you decide to find a “better job,” but you have no idea what a “better job” would mean to you. So you will not KNOW what that “better job” looks like and you will not know where to go get it, and you will not know when you have actually attained it. Without KNOWING exactly what your “better job” is you will be operating in the dark.
3. The third reason people fail to achieve their goals is that they use the wrong process to achieve their goals. For example they try to hire a therapist to learn a foreign language. As another example most people use the very commonly used “Trial and Error” method to find their “better job.” (Me included for 14 years). Emphasis on “Error.” This method rarely works! Hence the reason statistics have shown that over 86% of workers do not like their jobs. But they have no real way to change that.
