Survivors of disasters, (Hurricanes, Tornados, Floods and more) are hit with multiple devastating blows to their lives, property, and emotions generating sever vulnerability. Too often they feel they have nowhere to turn for help. And become skeptical, even fearful from the many hustling con artists that descend upon them. There are a number of private disaster relief groups waiting to provide Genuine, Obligation, Expert, Experienced, Very Friendly, PERSONAL and FREE Disaster Relief Services.

Unfortunately, these excellent FREE Disaster Relief Services are rarely known about. And frequently this help is too often not accepted or trusted by disaster victims because of the onslaught of con artists that descend on disaster victims to hustle money from them at their most vulnerable time. And because too many victims think FEMA will swoop in and help, which is not true. The relief these groups provide sounds TOO GOOD to be True.

These dedicated Free Relief Services are real! I have not only been a lucky recipient of several free disaster relief services but have been a volunteer for one. So, I speak from direct personal experience.

Bill’s Personal Story – Hurricane Ian and Free Disaster Relief Services

I have been the very lucky recipient of generous and very effective Free Disaster Relief Services, from several church-based relief groups, and a group of local volunteers. They were a Godsend. I was very vulnerable with serious needs. Frankly, the generous caring Voluntary Free Disaster Relief Services I received after Hurricane Ian fulfilled my faith in Christ and the true goodness and generosity of mankind. And boy did HE come through more than I could have imagined. They relieved me of the costly, nasty difficult task of cleaning up, to put me in position to focus on restoring my house and property to its pre-Hurricane condition. During these times we had no power, (No A/C) no Internet, no water, no cars (all damaged) and even our cell phones rarely worked.

Local Church Volunteers Arrived First

Without me even asking, a friend of mine, Stan Stouder, organized a group of 8 volunteers from Mission Church to clear my large 1.3 acre property. They removed over 2 tons of downed trees, limbs, trash, roof shingles and more that took all day and 2 chain saws to complete.

Wife’s Work Mates Jumped in Next

9 fun, dedicated young lady coworkers (and one son) of my wife at the Lee County School District sacrificed a day off to clear out our massive water damaged belongings. They removed over 3 tons of water damaged furniture, files, generators, equipment, personal belongings, carpets, books, bookcases, and more from our over 4 foot surge water damaged first floor, without being asked or seeking anything.

Local Church Sent Experienced Specialists to Clear Friend’s House

Then Next Level Church also sent a special team of 3 expert volunteers from High Springs, Fla. Shawn McDaniel, Damon Boudoin, and Dale Greenwald, to clear out the home of a neighbor friend. They slogged through nasty dirty waters and mold to extract over 2 tons of heavily water damaged furniture, equipment, trash, and belongings and carefully screened out anything that could be salvaged from the 5 foot high surge flooded home of John, an invalid friend, over a 3-day period.

Another Church Sponsored Swept in and Cleared 5 Properties

Then, I got really lucky to get connected with the Christ In Action group through the Next Level Church. They sent several teams to strip the mold and dirty wet dry walls and appliances from my friend’s house and cleaned up over 6 huge tuck loads (The famous “CLAW” trash pickup and hauling trucks) of downed and damaged trees, limbs and trash from 5 different properties. I watched in amazement as a Christ In Action volunteer expertly with a true artistic touch maneuvered his specialty designed Bobcat to clear over 2.5 acres of downed trees, huge limbs and debris to the street for the “Claw” trucks to pick up for removal.

The Christ In Action Group comes PREPARED! They are excellent at fulfilling their “Motto of Bringing Hope to American Families.” They go out of the way to assess the situation with remarkable attention to the details of fulfilling the desires of the homeowner victims. They bring their special equipment, including distinctively designed bobcats, blowers, generators, chain saws, and tools in their specially designed tool trucks, with their own food and supplies. Then their well-organized hard-working teams of very friendly, dedicated, and considerate volunteers get down to work to generate the relief results needed. They leave with a completely clean turnkey outcome. I also volunteered to work with the Christ In Action group in another town 2 years later to respond to Hurricanes Helene and Milton to try to give back the wonderful gifts I received. Hopefully I am not finished.

More About Free Disaster Relief Services

And the jobs they do are almost always dirty, messy, frustrating, difficult, dangerous, and energy sapping. For example, they will remove all damaged furniture, appliances, flooring, walls, mold, trees, shingles, vegetation, equipment and whatever else it takes to render the property free of obstacles and debris to be ready for restoration. Frequently, while operating in dirty frequently toxic water, dangerous mold, lung scratching sawdust, drywall dust, slimy mud, loose rusty nails and screws, piles of splintery wood, fibrous loose insulation, downed power lines, and most often unfriendly weather conditions. (Read hot, muggy and rainy).  The jobs can take days to complete, depending on the conditions.

And their services are Free without any onuses on the recipient. And they personally cater to the real needs of the disaster survivors they help. Even, inviting recipients to share home cooked meals. A true blessing when home cooked food is hard to come by.

Like many of my neighbors, after I was hit with Hurricane Ian, I was also inundated by countless for-profit groups with pitches from $8,000 to over $22,000 (CASH only) to supposedly perform the same services. Unfortunately, many of my neighbors fell for these scams.

These volunteer services are independent of FEMA. FEMA is supposed to provide help, but it is too impersonal, incompetent, restricted, late and over bureaucratic to really help, contrary to the media propaganda. I have lived through 11 Hurricanes in 41 years and only connected with FEMA 3 times. They provided small token payments after Irma and Ian. Dealing with their temporary offices to help an invalid friend was a trip into Bureaucratic nowhere.

These Private Non-Profit Free Relief groups fill the huge Relief Voids that FEMA does not even come close to dealing with. And they are far more friendly, attentive, dedicated, and effective. They get the job done without any hassles, money, or red tape.

They are life savers. They provide the support and actions to create Hope to move on from the disasters. I pray that more disaster survivors will learn about these groups and are able to reach out to them in their times of need like I did.

I pray that this publication will help broadcasting these miraculous Relief services to all other Survivors of disasters, so they can help you overcome the overwhelming requirements needed to recuperate from a disaster.

Miracles and Hurricane Ian-Strange Companions

My Many Experiences With Disasters

I would like to share my personal experiences dealing with Hurricane disasters, and the devastating effects they cause. And how being blessed as a recipient of many different free, caring, effective and very valuable Free Disaster Relief Services Changed Everything from negative to positive for me and my neighbors. Shown below is a list of 11 Hurricanes and 1 tropical storm that I personally lived through. I rode out the first 8 Hurricanes and thought I was ready for more. But I was WRONG.

Hurricane Ian was Devastating! It was the Perfect Storm producing every conceivable type of damage possible. The wind with gusts of over 150 mph lasted for over 10 hours. Ian stayed around to create maximum damage. Ian ripped up my roof creating holes for the incessant rains to pour through. It also destroyed my water filtration system, my pool equipment, my fencing, my outdoor lights, damaged my pool, and tore apart my many trees and defoliated what was left standing. It also dumped over 4 feet of the vilest, contaminated, dirty brackish surge water into the first level and garage of my home. I was Lucky. I have a 3-story home with the bottom floor being built with reinforced concrete blocks.

There had been NO surge waters recorded in my neighborhood forever. None. So, after experiencing Andrew, Charlie. Irma, Wilma and other Hurricanes I and almost everyone in 5 counties were Not expecting Nor prepared for such a surge onslaught. Ian changed everything.

Many other homes in several Counties received 5 to 20 feet of the same waters. These surge waters were so powerful that it destroyed virtually every manufactured home it came in contact with and drove over approximately 50 each 35-ton Shrimp boats over ¾ miles inland and dumped them on houses, cars and people. My neighbors who were staying in one-story well-built homes saved their lives by climbing into the attic with their children and pets hanging onto the rafters overnight while being pummeled with the rain coming through the many holes in the roof. Or they waded through 3-6 feet of the strong current surge waters in the 150 mph gusty winds to houses nearby that were high enough to provide some safety. Or they escaped to the public shelters to endure overcrowded very unpleasant experiences. People were given small marked off spaces with possibly a cot to sleep on in an open arena with thousands of other people children, pets, sounds, smells and confusion. Restroom visits were a real challenge. They were Port-O-Potties located at some distance outside. But it beat drowning in the surge waters. They were further devastated when they returned to their hugely damaged, often destroyed properties, afterwards.

4 of my neighbors and their 3 cats and German Sheppard used a small Kayak to wade through 300 feet of the 5 feet of flowing waters to my house to crash on our elevated second floor for safety. My 37-year-old neighbor’s 70-year-old mother and her cat, and his girlfriend and a close friend had gone to his house from elsewhere for supposed safety. They thought they were safe until the 5 feet of surge waters that surrounded his house finally bust through the kitchen sheet rock wall from the garage and drove the waters into the house. They somehow escaped outside during the 150 mph gusty winds and rain to scamper up and into his trailered boat. He grabbed a kayak he saw streaming down the river torrent which had previously been our street.  He shuttled everyone on the kayak for over an hour through the moving waters and windy rains to my house for safety. His mother only had a small backpack with her worldly possessions and a small cage for her cat. She stayed with us for the next 3 weeks because she had nowhere else to go. Her trailer home was demolished. She was a true delight. A remarkable young lady. We were honored to have her.

I was in shock the following Wednesday. After my wife, Chris and I hauled computers, modems, equipment, files and very personal items from my business office up 17 stairs to the next floor from about 11:30 AM Tuesday morning to 7:00 PM when the surge waters stopped rising. The stress was intense, because we never knew when it would end. We only managed to salvage about 10% of what was downstairs in the path of the surge waters. I have never been in shock before. I cannot remember anything that happened until about 5:00 PM that afternoon. I had no Idea what to do next. Evidently, I just wandered around in a daze during this time. We were all in some type of shock. This is the closest I ever came to PTSD and might have felt it if I could have been alert enough to recognize it. I and my neighbors were at our most vulnerable. Everything happened so quickly, so unexpectantly, and so universally, that we really had nowhere to turn. 

But Ian was not through with its lingering devastation. Many people who came in contact with the dangerous surge waters encountered severe life-threatening reactions. I was very lucky again to not have been affected while sloshing through over 4 feet of this nasty toxic water for many hours. Another neighbor (Who with her husband was another rafter hanger) was told by the ER doctors when she went in for the pain, and swelling of her leg, that she might have lost the leg and possibly her life if she had come in 4 hours later. Emergency rooms treated countless others with the same life-threatening attacks. Unfortunately, too many others lost their lives without proper quick treatment.

Then not to be outdone, Ian left all properties that were touched by the surge waters with a very dangerous, fast growing toxic black Mold, that sprang into action within hours after the water receded over 24 hours later. The conditions were perfect for the mold to grow and spread its airborne noxious spores. Breathing these mold spores and touching it also created known harmful reactions. My neighbors and I were not prepared for or did we even know about the dangerous problems caused by the toxic waters and the growing mold. Somehow, we missed the classes about black mold and contaminated surge waters.  UGH!

This is where the Free Disaster Relief Service Groups I described above came to the rescue. And boy did they save us all from so many devastating problems.  Clearing out all the water damaged things, stripping the moldy sheet rock out to the wood frames and clearing out the toxic mold afterwards was a true Miracle. Just clearing out the downed trees and trash off the driveway was a remarkable gift. So other rescue vehicles could reach us. Our 2 garaged vehicles were destroyed and unusable due to the penetration of the brackish waters. I understand that over 400,000 vehicles alone were destroyed from Ian in our County alone. Not to mention the many boats, ATV’s, motorcycles and other types of motorized vehicles that were destroyed.

The people who voluntarily gave me and my neighbors the remarkable free disaster relief services changed our lives. We got emotional support from their caring, friendly and experienced help. They gave us Hope that we could crawl out of this continuing disaster to regain our personal and emotional lives. They preformed the needed, yet dirty, backbreaking cleanup duties that had to be done that were way out of our capabilities, let alone our knowledge. They started the process to allow us to begin restoring our lives by clearing out the damages caused by Ian. And they did it voluntarily, without asking or accepting any rewards from us. They gave to give. The most wonderful gift possible, and I am still moved by their generosity and sacrifices to help me, and my neighbors get back on our feet.

You may think I have lost my mind, but I still feel blessed to have been connected with so many wonderful people and to have experienced the miracles of their generous sacrifices.
