Bill earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from University of Alabama and a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management from Oklahoma State University. He paid his way through OSU by working as a craps dealer at Harrah’s in Lake Tahoe where he learned a great deal about human nature firsthand. He received his Certified Business Analyst designation from the Florida Small Business Development Center Network and earned a real estate broker’s license in the state of Florida.
After he was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army with two years of active duty in Germany, Bill began his career with Phillips Petroleum Company in 1970. In 1975 was recruited to become the driving force behind growing a very small start-up refining company, LaJet, Inc. into a well-known and respected mid-size refining company. As the worldwide buyer, transporter, refiner, and trader of petroleum crude oil and refined products, he was personally responsible for generating over $160 million in pretax profits in just five years. Bill formed Aspen Energy, Inc. in 1980 and quickly grew it to be a successful petroleum trading company.
Having a life-long passion for skiing, (and fly fishing for trout) he became the organizing co-founder of Cardrona Ski Area in New Zealand in 1981, converting a mountain previously used to graze sheep into the most popular and profitable ski area in New Zealand and Australia. He and his partners took Cardrona public in 1987 and their success was featured in a 30-minute 1988 PBS film made for television for the New Zealand government. They sold the company in 1989. Bill then took on a new endeavor creating The Office Outfitters, the first company to provide next-day delivery of office products throughout the United States at prices below superstores. The Office Outfitters was bought out in 1995.

A sought-out guest speaker on the topic of coaching, Bill has presented to the Financial Planners Association, Santa Clara County Executive Group, Make Mine A Million women’s business owner group, and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and has been a frequent guest on radio and TV programs throughout the U.S. and U.K. A prolific writer, he wrote a book entitled, “Go To Play Every Day and Call It Work.” Bill’s educational articles on career, business and life coaching have been published over 121 times throughout the U.S. and Canada in over 100 magazines and periodicals.
Bill served as chair of the Membership Development Committee for the International Coaching Federation (ICF), director of the American Heart Association of Fort Myers (FL), and director of the Caloosa Nature Center (Fort Myers). A former Rotarian with 10.5 years of perfect attendance, he is the co-founder and past president of the Heritage Farms Property Association in Florida, which is not a HOA. He was the first President and one of the founders of The Cowboy Academy, of invited distinguished graduates of The Oklahoma State University School of Industrial Engineering and Management. And more recently Bill is a Co-founder and President of Bouncebacktogether.org a start up non-profit to be the one stop concierge source of Free Aid and Resources for disaster survivors in the US.
Bill has a special place for Veterans, because he understands the special issues regarding transitioning from active military duty to the civilian world, having done so as an officer in the US Army.
Bill lives in Fort Myers, Florida with his wife of 41 years.
