10. Become a more Productive Manager

Many established managers find themselves in a position where they are not getting the most from their team. This may be because they have lost the motivation to continue managing, or the requirements and/or circumstances of management have changed dramatically. Becoming more productive as a manager means increasing your effectiveness and the results of your team with less effort and time required on your part. (As opposed to having you and your team working longer and harder hours to extract more team results.) You will become a more productive manager by improving your ability to:

  • Organize and manage your own life more,
  • Crystallize the goals and objectives of your managed group,
  • Communicate the desired outcomes from your team,
  • Recognize the true capabilities and motivations of your team,
  • Organize the activities of your team to achieve the desired outcomes,
  • Encourage your team members to motivate themselves to produce the desired results,
  • Protect your team members from disruptive and conflicting pressures from others.
