Steve Jobs had a life coach and Eric Schmidt of Google even proclaimed “Everyone needs a coach” in his video for Fortune.
Thomas Leonard was the driving force behind developing the life coaching industry. He brought the life coaching process into the world around 1992. He designed life coaching, documented it, practiced coaching, trained others to be life coaches, and was life coaching’s traveling cheerleader until his untimely death in 2003.
The overwhelming success of life coaching has generated rapid growth. Today, it is estimated that there are from 70,000 to over 200,000 life coaches worldwide, and counting. Over 500 new specialty coach training schools have been created, and approximately 19 coaching associations have been organized.
Main stream Universities including Harvard, are now offering courses in life coaching. Numerous corporations hire life coaches, or have their own inhouse coaches to improve employee performance.
