TCC Member Personal Coaches coaches must undergo a rigorous multi-phased screening process. We spend considerable time (over 2,750 man hours to date), effort, and money on using our tried and tested methods to discover excellent coaches for you and TCC. What characteristics must TCC Member Personal Coaches possess?
A. TCC Member Personal Coaches are totally trustworthy and maintain the highest integrity. Integrity is critical. Member Coach’s integrity must be real, genuine and constant. True and effective coaching will only occur when there is complete and deserved trust between the client and coach.
B. TCC Member Personal Coaches have “The Gift of Coaching”. Every TCC Member Personal Coach will have the special personal characteristic of the “Gift of Coaching.” People with the “gift to coach” have a natural talent for focusing on others and have a genuine internal motivation to assist others to prosper. They are very “You” focused and not I centered. They have a very strong love and respect for other people. They easily refrain from judging or being superior to their clients.
C. TCC Member Personal Coaches dedicate their full attention and energies to TCC clients. Clients are always the center of attention. Member Coaches do not seek or accept credit, or fame for what their clients achieve. Member Coaches feel rewarded because their clients succeed.
D. TCC Member Personal Coaches have full control of their own agendas and biases to refrain from judging clients. Member Coaches must be able to make very objective, clean and full observations that zone in on the truth, without any distractions. Member Coaches involve their biases as rarely as possible and only in an open honest way to their clients. The only agenda a TCC Member Coach has is that they discover and reflect the total truth from within our clients.
E. TCC Member Personal Coaches control their desire to advise, control, or sell their clients. The coaching process is like no other in that the path or route for clients to achieve their goals will not be known or organized in advance. The path constantly changes depending upon the client, and any control or manipulation by the coach will, in essence, halt the coaching process. Telling a client they “should” do or “should not” do anything is eliminated.
F. TCC Member Personal Coaches have a keen ability to listen and extract the truth from our clients. Member Coaches exert 100% effort to listening to all aspects of what clients are truly saying and meaning. One of the most difficult things any human being faces is the ability to clearly express their inner feelings and thoughts. Member Coaches easily and smoothly motivate clients to freely reveal their deep inner selves. Member Coaches can accurately zone in on the truth based upon what clients say and sometimes do not say.
G. TCC Member Personal Coaches clearly communicate their observations to clients without any hint of judgment, or superiority. Once the inner most and normally very guarded feelings of clients are revealed to the coach, Member Coaches must be able to reflect these five ingredients back to the clients in a very supportive and nonjudgmental way. describe them to the client in a very supportive and clear manner, without any hint of judgment.
H. TCC Member Personal Coaches are firm with their observations and present the truth to their clients. Many clients seek and need “accountability” from their coaches. This is another way of asking for the continued presentation of the truth, without allowing the client to talk around the truth. Life coaching, in essence, can be called providing true accountability with caring and understanding.
I. TCC Member Personal Coaches have excellent telephone communication and relationship skills. Over 91% of all successful coaching is conducted via the telephone. Telephone coaching is much more effective, efficient, convenient, confidential and much less costly for clients.
Excellent life coaches want to stay with TCC once they get accepted. Why?
- We spend hours during the last phase of our screening process to discover whom our coaches consider to be their ideal clients and place their descriptions in their words in our data base. We then call our Member Coaches to connect them with their ideal clients as they arrive.
- TCC does not charge any dues or other such fees, nor does TCC try to sell anything nor impose on our Member Coaches.
- TCC only retains a flat minority amount from each client payment, that is NOT based upon a commission, and the coaches keep all of the rest, so the coaches keep a lions share of the coaching fees, and TCC has no incentive to direct clients to higher priced coaches.
- TCC Member Coaches set their own prices.
- TCC Member Coaches are Independent Operators and can continue coaching outside TCC at will.
- TCC Member Coaches are also relieved of all of the administrative duties they normally dislike. They get to do what the truly love and are gifted to do. Coach their personally matched ideal clients.
- TCC screens all clients to make sure they have at least one coachable goal and they are ready for coaching. TCC also explains how life coaching works, what coaching will do and will not do, so all TCC clients can make a very informed decision about embarking on their life coaching journey.
- TCC does not pressure or sell clients into being coached. That way they make the best decisions for them and are not pushed into coaching when it is not in their best interests.
- A vast majority of our TCC Member Coaches have been with TCC for years, many over 10 years. Virtually all of our Member Coaches have thriving practices because of their affiliation with TCC.
- TCC Member Coaches are so secure in their coaching practices that they frequently limit themselves to the number of clients they will coach at anytime, to always have the energy and focus to give our clients their best coaching.
How does TCC treat Coach Certifications?
We have found that the qualities of a personal coach cannot be determined by whether the coach is certified or not. There are approximately 76 different coaching certifications (See Credentialing Chart at bottom) that can be bought for as low as $119.50, including shipping. Coaching certifications are not considered valid criteria for screening. You are encouraged to read why this is true from an in depth and very objective independent report on personal coaching credentialing. In fact, we have denied applications for over 450 certified coaches because they did not meet our standards.
